Eric Ashton: More than a great runner

Elite runner Eric Ashton will be back for the 2017 Governor’s Cup half marathon. That’s good news for master’s division runners because it will mark his last year in the master’s division. It’s bad news for grandmaster division runners because he will move up into their division next year.

Now approaching the magic age of 50, Eric remains a force.  Among elite and 20-something runners, he finished 6th overall in the 2016 Governor’s Cup, easily winning the masters division with a 6:40 time gap over the second-place masters finisher.  It is not uncommon to see him as overall winner in many local races, including an overall first in the Lexington’s Race Against Hunger on February 25, 2017.

Welcome American Diabetes Association as Gov Cup Charity Beneficiary

The ADA mission is to prevent and cure diabetes, and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes. Nearly 30 million battle diabetes and every 23 seconds someone new is diagnosed with diabetes. Diabetes causes more deaths a year than breast cancer and AIDS combined.
